Jubilee
A system for aligning economics, taxation, land ownership, and civilization through structured time.
Today I made a huge discovery.
GPC does not just change how humans perceive time. It changes how humans perceive reality itself. Once you change timekeeping, you begin changing:
- economics,
- government,
- taxation,
- technology,
- and even how computers think.
Ultimately, GPC aims to redesign systems around how the human mind naturally organizes patterns.
The 2% Discovery
Years ago I worked as a plumber for two months. During that time I learned about the 2% slope.
In plumbing, for every meter a trench travels horizontally, it must descend roughly two centimetres vertically. A 2/100 gradient. A 2% slope.
What fascinated me was discovering that ancient civilizations already understood this principle.

- Rome
- Israel
- and throughout the ancient world
Today I realized something else: the Jubilee system also revolves around a 2% slope.
America
In America there are three major property tax systems:
- Tax Lien States
- Tax Deed States
- Redeemable Tax Deed States
In Tax Deed states, if you fail to pay property taxes, your property itself may be auctioned.
In Tax Lien states, the government instead creates a lien certificate which investors purchase.
In Redeemable Tax Deed states such as Hawaii, the property may still be auctioned, but the original owner receives a redemption period to reclaim it by repaying the debt with interest. This was partly designed to reduce the permanent loss of ancestral land.
Of the three, Hawaii's system is probably the least destructive because it recognizes that people:
- forget,
- become ill,
- suffer hardship,
- or simply make mistakes.
The broader American system is fundamentally predatory because ownership depends on maintaining perpetual annual tax compliance forever.
Hawaii, Airbnb, and Global Housing
Right now I hear the same story almost everywhere I travel.
In Hawaii, many locals can no longer afford to buy homes on their own islands. One major culprit is Airbnb and speculative ownership.

- vacation rentals,
- or speculative assets
instead of places for families to actually live.
Homes stop functioning as shelter and begin functioning primarily as financial instruments.
China
China took a completely different direction.
China technically maintains ultimate state ownership of land. Individuals usually purchase long-term land-use rights instead of permanent freehold ownership.
China also makes it more difficult in many situations to accumulate multiple speculative homes.
The CCP openly promotes the philosophy that:
This prevented:
- endless monopolization,
- irreversible debt slavery,
- and permanent dynasties of land accumulation.
Whether people agree with the Chinese political system or not, this idea directly addresses a problem destabilizing much of the world: the transformation of housing into a global investment machine.
Ancient Judea and Jubilee
Under the Jubilee system, land was not supposed to be permanently alienated forever because ultimately the land belonged to God and tribal inheritance structures.
Land value depended on how close society was to the next Jubilee cycle.

That implies a structural floor at 4%—not because of symbolism alone, but because land never reaches zero value in practice; it only compresses toward a minimum functional baseline.
The calendar framework begins on the fourth day (Wednesday), which resets land value back to 100%.
Land was not truly being sold permanently. What was being sold was time remaining until restoration.
Georgism
Henry George argued that humans should own:
- their labor,
- their buildings,
- and what they create.
But land itself is fundamentally different because nobody created it.
The Jubilee system appears surprisingly close to this idea.
Monopoly and Georgist Origins
Interestingly, the classic board game Monopoly evolved from The Landlord’s Game, designed by Elizabeth Magie in the early 1900s to teach Georgist principles. It originally included two rule sets: one Georgist version with land rents funding a public treasury and shared prosperity, and a monopolist version demonstrating wealth concentration. History favored the latter.
Modern symptoms — housing unaffordability, speculative bubbles, and rising debt burdens — echo the warnings Georgism and ancient Jubilee systems sought to address. Biblical cycles (debt release every 7 years in Deuteronomy 15, land restoration in the 50th-year Jubilee of Leviticus 25) offered periodic resets to prevent permanent alienation of land and debt traps. Hawaii’s redeemable tax deed approach shares some of this protective spirit. Such cyclical mechanisms could inspire fairer modern alternatives, particularly in smaller or more cohesive societies.
Final Comparison
America taxes continuously forever. China leases long-term under state sovereignty. 1% tax revert 70 years. Jubilee restructures ownership itself around cyclical restoration.
The American system produces:
- foreclosure industries,
- predatory tax structures,
- speculative housing bubbles,
- and permanent financial pressure.
The Chinese system reduces perpetual tax stress while discouraging certain forms of housing speculation.
The Jubilee system may have been the most advanced because everybody resets together under a synchronized cycle.
We originally believed intercalation was only about correcting calendars.
Now we are beginning to realize: timekeeping itself may be the hidden foundation of:
- economics,
- taxation,
- governance,
- property,
- civilization architecture,
- and even how technology organizes human life.
