The land had rest forty years. Othniel the son of Kenaz died.
וַתִּשְׁקֹט הָאָרֶץ אַרְבָּעִים שָׁנָה וַיָּמָת עָתְנִיאֵל בֶּן־קְנַז׃
So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. The land had rest eighty years.
וַתִּכָּנַע מֹואָב בַּיֹּום הַהוּא תַּחַת יַד יִשְׂרָאֵל וַתִּשְׁקֹט הָאָרֶץ שְׁמֹונִים שָׁנָה׃

“In the days of Shamgar the son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were unoccupied. The travelers walked through byways.
בִּימֵי שַׁמְגַּר בֶּן־עֲנָת בִּימֵי יָעֵל חָדְלוּ אֳרָחֹות וְהֹלְכֵי נְתִיבֹות יֵלְכוּ אֳרָחֹות עֲקַלְקַלֹּות׃
Seder Olam Rabbah 12:52
1. After him Deborah and Baraq ben Abinoam 40 years. Deduct from these the subjugation under Yabin and Sisera 20 years. (Jud. 6:1): "The Children of Israel did evil in the eyes of the Eternal; so the Eternal gave them into the hand of Midian for seven years. Forty years of Gideon, but the seven years of Midian are not counted in them. (Jud. 9:22): "Abimelekh lorded over Israel three years." (Jud. 10:1-2): "After Abimelekh there rose Tola` ben Puah ben Dodo from the tribe of Issakhar to save Israel .... He judged Israel for 23 years ... ." After him Yair from Gilead 22 years. Deduct from these one year that is counted for both of them.
“So let all your enemies perish, LORD, but let those who love him be as the sun when it rises in its strength.” Then the land had rest forty years.

Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then Jephthah the Gileadite died, and was buried in the cities of Gilead.
וַיִּשְׁפֹּט יִפְתָּח אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל שֵׁשׁ שָׁנִים וַיָּמָת יִפְתָּח הַגִּלְעָדִי וַיִּקָּבֵר בְּעָרֵי גִלְעָד׃
While Israel lived in Heshbon and its towns, and in Aroer and its towns, and in all the cities that are along by the side of the Arnon, three hundred years; why didn’t you recover them within that time?
בְּשֶׁבֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּחֶשְׁבֹּון וּבִבְנֹותֶיהָ וּבְעַרְעֹור וּבִבְנֹותֶיהָ וּבְכָל־הֶעָרִים אֲשֶׁר עַל־יְדֵי אַרְנֹון שְׁלֹשׁ מֵאֹות שָׁנָה וּמַדּוּעַ לֹא־הִצַּלְתֶּם בָּעֵת הַהִיא׃
He had thirty sons; and thirty daughters he sent abroad, and thirty daughters he brought in from abroad for his sons. He judged Israel seven years.
וַיְהִי־לֹו שְׁלֹשִׁים בָּנִים וּשְׁלֹשִׁים בָּנֹות שִׁלַּח הַחוּצָה וּשְׁלֹשִׁים בָּנֹות הֵבִיא לְבָנָיו מִן־הַחוּץ וַיִּשְׁפֹּט אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל שֶׁבַע שָׁנִים׃
After him Elon the Zebulunite judged Israel; and he judged Israel ten years.
וַיִּשְׁפֹּט אַחֲרָיו אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל אֵילֹון הַזְּבוּלֹנִי וַיִּשְׁפֹּט אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל עֶשֶׂר שָׁנִים׃ >
He had forty sons and thirty sons’ sons, who rode on seventy donkey colts: and he judged Israel eight years.
וַיְהִי־לֹו אַרְבָּעִים בָּנִים וּשְׁלֹשִׁים בְּנֵי בָנִים רֹכְבִים עַל־שִׁבְעִים עֲיָרִם וַיִּשְׁפֹּט אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל שְׁמֹנֶה שָׁנִים׃
Then his brothers and all the house of his father came down, and took him, and brought him up, and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the burial site of Manoah his father. He judged Israel twenty years.
וַיֵּרְדוּ אֶחָיו וְכָל־בֵּית אָבִיהוּ וַיִּשְׂאוּ אֹתֹו וַיַּעֲלוּ ׀ וַיִּקְבְּרוּ אֹותֹו בֵּין צָרְעָה וּבֵין אֶשְׁתָּאֹל בְּקֶבֶר מָנֹוחַ אָבִיו וְהוּא שָׁפַט אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל עֶשְׂרִים שָׁנָה׃
He judged Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.
וַיִּשְׁפֹּט אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל בִּימֵי פְלִשְׁתִּים עֶשְׂרִים שָׁנָה׃
🚫Remember that Samson did not stop the 40 year oppression of the Philistines until the day he died. This means we include his 20 year judgeship inside the 40 years of Philistine oppression. Many chronologists make the mistake of adding it, thus giving us 60 years instead of 40.
🚫Further Eli was a contemporary of Samson and he reigned through the full 40 years of the Philistine Oppression. We know this because Eli died as a result of the Philistines capturing the Ark which ended his 40 years. They only had it 7 months until it was transferred to Kirjath Jearim where it remained 20 years in all(I Sam. 7:1-2). Adding Eli's 40 years to the 40 year Philistine oppression and the 20 years of Samson gives us 100 years! 40+40+20. A gross 60 year error!
🚫Samson and Samuel, though it is not generally recognized, were contemporaries. Samuel and Saul died the same year David became king in Hebron. Saul reigned forty years during which he fought the Philistines. This means during the last ten years of the Philistine oppression David fought Goliath and was a contemporary with Eli, Samson and Saul. Many Chronologists end the period of the judges beginning with kingship of Saul. This is a gross error.
"Samuel continued as Israel’s judge for the rest of his life."
When he made mention of the ark of God, Eli fell from off his seat backward by the side of the gate; and his neck broke, and he died; for he was an old man, and heavy. He had judged Israel forty years.
וַיְהִי כְּהַזְכִּירֹו ׀ אֶת־אֲרֹון הָאֱלֹהִים וַיִּפֹּל מֵעַל־הַכִּסֵּא אֲחֹרַנִּית בְּעַד ׀ יַד הַשַּׁעַר וַתִּשָּׁבֵר מַפְרַקְתֹּו וַיָּמֹת כִּי־זָקֵן הָאִישׁ וְכָבֵד וְהוּא שָׁפַט אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל אַרְבָּעִים שָׁנָה׃

A length is not given to his reign which has no impact on chronology.
Therefore the LORD’s anger was kindled against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Cushan Rishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Cushan Rishathaim eight years.
וַיִּחַר־אַף יְהוָה בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל וַיִּמְכְּרֵם בְּיַד כּוּשַׁן רִשְׁעָתַיִם מֶלֶךְ אֲרַם נַהֲרָיִם וַיַּעַבְדוּ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת־כּוּשַׁן רִשְׁעָתַיִם שְׁמֹנֶה שָׁנִים׃
The children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years.
וַיַּעַבְדוּ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת־עֶגְלֹון מֶלֶךְ־מֹואָב שְׁמֹונֶה עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה׃
The LORD sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor; the captain of whose army was Sisera, who lived in Harosheth of the Gentiles.The children of Israel cried to the LORD: for he had nine hundred chariots of iron; and twenty years he mightily oppressed the children of Israel.

the LORD’s anger was kindled against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the children of Ammon.They troubled and oppressed the children of Israel that year. For eighteen years, they oppressed all the children of Israel that were beyond the Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead.

The children of Israel again did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.
וַיֹּסִפוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לַעֲשֹׂות הָרַע בְּעֵינֵי יְהוָה וַיִּתְּנֵם יְהוָה בְּיַד־פְּלִשְׁתִּים אַרְבָּעִים שָׁנָה׃
