Noah was five hundred years old, then Noah became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
וַיְהִי־נֹחַ בֶּן־חֲמֵשׁ מֵאֹות שָׁנָה וַיֹּולֶד נֹחַ אֶת־שֵׁם אֶת־חָם וְאֶת־יָפֶת׃
This is the history of the generations of Shem. Shem was one hundred years old and became the father of Arpachshad two years after the flood.
Shem lived five hundred years after he became the father of Arpachshad, and became the father of sons and daughters.
אֵלֶּה תֹּולְדֹת שֵׁם שֵׁם בֶּן־מְאַת שָׁנָה וַיֹּולֶד אֶת־אַרְפַּכְשָׁד שְׁנָתַיִם אַחַר הַמַּבּוּל׃
וַיְחִי־שֵׁם אַחֲרֵי הֹולִידֹו אֶת־אַרְפַּכְשָׁד חֲמֵשׁ מֵאֹות שָׁנָה וַיֹּולֶד בָּנִים וּבָנֹות׃
💡 Age = 100 + 500 = 600
Shem begat Arpachshad when he was 100, and Arpachshad was born two years after the flood (Genesis 11:10). Noah was 600 at the start of the flood (Genesis 7:6). If Shem were born when Noah was 500 he would have been 100 the year of the flood — but he is not 100 until two years later, when Arpachshad is born. That means Shem was born when Noah was 502.
💡 Birth = 1056 + 500 + 2 = 1558
נח היה בן חמש מאות שנה, ואז הוליד את שם, חם ויפת.
וַיְהִי־נֹחַ בֶּן־חֲמֵשׁ מֵאֹות שָׁנָה וַיֹּולֶד נֹחַ אֶת־שֵׁם אֶת־חָם וְאֶת־יָפֶת׃
אלה תולדות שם. שם בן מאה שנה הוליד את ארפכשד שנתיים אחר המבול.
שם חי חמש מאות שנה אחרי הולידו את ארפכשד, ויולד בנים ובנות.

וַיְחִי־שֵׁם אַחֲרֵי הֹולִידֹו אֶת־אַרְפַּכְשָׁד חֲמֵשׁ מֵאֹות שָׁנָה וַיֹּולֶד בָּנִים וּבָנֹות׃
💡 גיל = 100 + 500 = 600
שם הוליד את ארפכשד בגיל 100, וארפכשד נולד שנתיים אחרי המבול. נח היה בן 600 בתחילת המבול. אם שם נולד כשנח היה 500, היה בן 100 בשנת המבול — אבל הוא בן 100 רק שנתיים אחר כך. לכן שם נולד כשנח היה בן 502.

नूह पाँच सौ वर्ष का हुआ, तब उसने शेम, हाम और येपेत को जन्म दिया।
וַיְהִי־נֹחַ בֶּן־חֲמֵשׁ מֵאֹות שָׁנָה וַיֹּולֶד נֹחַ אֶת־שֵׁם אֶת־חָם וְאֶת־יָפֶת׃
शेम की पीढ़ियाँ ये हैं। शेम एक सौ वर्ष का था जब जलप्रलय के दो वर्ष बाद अर्पक्षद का पिता बना।
अर्पक्षद के जन्म के बाद शेम पाँच सौ वर्ष और जीवित रहा, और पुत्र-पुत्रियाँ उत्पन्न कीं।

וַיְחִי־שֵׁם אַחֲרֵי הֹולִידֹו אֶת־אַרְפַּכְשָׁד חֲמֵשׁ מֵאֹות שָׁנָה וַיֹּולֶד בָּנִים וּבָנֹות׃
💡 आयु = 100 + 500 = 600
शेम 100 वर्ष का था जब अर्पक्षद जन्मा, और अर्पक्षद जलप्रलय के दो वर्ष बाद पैदा हुआ। जलप्रलय के आरंभ में नूह 600 का था। यदि शेम नूह के 500वें वर्ष में जन्मा होता तो जलप्रलय वाले वर्ष वह 100 का होता — पर 100 वह दो वर्ष बाद होता है। अतः शेम तब जन्मा जब नूह 502 का था।

וַיְהִי־נֹחַ בֶּן־חֲמֵשׁ מֵאֹות שָׁנָה וַיֹּולֶד נֹחַ אֶת־שֵׁם אֶת־חָם וְאֶת־יָפֶת׃
Estas son las generaciones de Sem. Sem tenía cien años y engendró a Arfaxad dos años después del diluvio.
Sem vivió quinientos años después de engendrar a Arfaxad, y engendró hijos e hijas.

וַיְחִי־שֵׁם אַחֲרֵי הֹולִידֹו אֶת־אַרְפַּכְשָׁד חֲמֵשׁ מֵאֹות שָׁנָה וַיֹּולֶד בָּנִים וּבָנֹות׃
💡 Edad = 100 + 500 = 600
Sem engendró a Arfaxad a los 100 años, y Arfaxad nació dos años después del diluvio. Noé tenía 600 al comenzar el diluvio. Si Sem hubiera nacido cuando Noé tenía 500, habría tenido 100 el año del diluvio; pero no cumple 100 hasta dos años después. Por tanto Sem nació cuando Noé tenía 502.
