Adam lived one hundred thirty years, and became the father of a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth.
וַיְחִי אָדָם שְׁלֹשִׁים וּמְאַת שָׁנָה וַיֹּולֶד בִּדְמוּתֹו כְּצַלְמֹו וַיִּקְרָא אֶת־שְׁמֹו שֵׁת׃
All the days of Seth were nine hundred twelve years, then he died.
וַיִּהְיוּ כָּל־יְמֵי־שֵׁת שְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה וּתְשַׁע מֵאֹות שָׁנָה וַיָּמֹת׃
ובשבוע הראשון ליובל השלישי הרג קין את הבל על כי לקח ה' מידו מנחה לרצון ומיד קין לא לקח לרצון מנחת פרי האדמה:
And in the first (year) of the third jubilee, Cain slew Abel because (God) accepted the sacrifice of Abel, and did not accept the offering of Cain.
ובשנה הרביעית לשבוע החמישי התנחם וידע עוד את אשתו ותלד לו בן ויקרא את שמו שת כי אמר שת לנו אלהים זרע אחר על הארץ תחת הבל כי הרגו קין:
And in the fourth year of the fifth week they became joyful, and Adam knew his wife again, and she bare him a son, and he called his name Seth; for he said "God hath raised up a second seed unto us on the earth instead of Abel; for Cain slew him."
When men began to multiply on the surface of the ground, and daughters were born to them, God’s sons saw that men’s daughters were beautiful, and they took any that they wanted for themselves as wives. The LORD said, “My Spirit will not strive with man forever, because he also is flesh; so his days will be one hundred twenty years.” The Nephilim were in the earth in those days, and also after that, when God’s sons came in to men’s daughters and had children with them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.
וַיְהִי כִּי־הֵחֵל הָאָדָם לָרֹב עַל־פְּנֵי הָאֲדָמָה וּבָנֹות יֻלְּדוּ לָהֶם׃ וַיִּרְאוּ בְנֵי־הָאֱלֹהִים אֶת־בְּנֹות הָאָדָם כִּי טֹבֹת הֵנָּה וַיִּקְחוּ לָהֶם נָשִׁים מִכֹּל אֲשֶׁר בָּחָרוּ׃ וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה לֹא־יָדֹון רוּחִי בָאָדָם לְעֹלָם בְּשַׁגַּם הוּא בָשָׂר וְהָיוּ יָמָיו מֵאָה וְעֶשְׂרִים שָׁנָה׃ הַנְּפִלִים הָיוּ בָאָרֶץ בַּיָּמִים הָהֵם וְגַם אַחֲרֵי־כֵן אֲשֶׁר יָבֹאוּ בְּנֵי הָאֱלֹהִים אֶל־בְּנֹות הָאָדָם וְיָלְדוּ לָהֶם הֵמָּה הַגִּבֹּרִים אֲשֶׁר מֵעֹולָם אַנְשֵׁי הַשֵּׁם׃
There are two primary interpretations of who the "Sons of God" are in Genesis 6. The more familiar one is that they refer to fallen angels, as the phrase "Sons of God" often denotes angels in biblical contexts. This view aligns logically with the narrative of supernatural beings interacting with humanity.
The alternative interpretation is that the "Sons of God" are the godly descendants of Seth (from Genesis 5), who intermarried with the ungodly descendants of Cain (from Genesis 4). This also fits the context of moral decline leading to the Flood.
Both views hold equal merit and are supported by the text. The ambiguity may describe two parallel events concisely.
Genesis 6:3 limits human days to 120 years. Since many have lived beyond this, it likely refers to Jubilee years (cycles of 49 years) rather than solar years.
- 120 Jubilees = 5,881 years
- 121 Jubilees = 5,930 years
In the Qumran calendar reckoning (distinct from the Hillel II calendar), the current year is 6018. Add 130 years (Adam's age at Seth's birth):
- 5,881 + 130 = 6,011 years
- 5,930 + 130 = 6,060 years
This suggests the current world order cannot extend beyond 6,060 years (121 Jubilees) from Adam. As we are in year 6018, we are 7 years into this prophetic window from Seth's perspective.
Another reading: the 120 years may count from the Jubilee cycle Seth was born in. Seth was born in the third Jubilee cycle. Adding 120 brings us to the 123rd Jubilee.
This cycle ends in 6,028 (or around 2031 in the Gregorian calendar), exactly 10 years from the current date (November 2021). This view aligns better with Jubilee tracking, as it emphasizes cycles over individual years.
אדם חי מאה ושלושים שנה, והוליד בן בדמותו כצלמו, ויקרא את שמו שת.

כאשר החל האדם לרב על פני האדמה ונולדו להם בנות, ראו בני האלהים את בנות האדם כי טובות הנה, ויקחו להם נשים מכל אשר בחרו. ויאמר ה': "לא ידון רוחי באדם לעולם, בשגם הוא בשר; והיו ימיו מאה ועשרים שנה." הנפילים היו בארץ בימים ההם וגם אחרי כן.

יש שני פירושים עיקריים ל"בני האלהים" בבראשית ו׳: מלאכים נופלים, או צאצאי שת שנשאו לבנות קין. שניהם נתמכים בטקסט, ואולי מתארים שני אירועים במקביל.
בראשית ו׳ ג׳ מגביל את ימי האדם ל־120. כי רבים חיו יותר מזה, ייתכן שהכוונה ליובלים של 49 שנה ולא לשנות חמה.
- 120 יובלים = 5,881 שנים
- 121 יובלים = 5,930 שנים
- 5,881 + 130 = 6,011
- 5,930 + 130 = 6,060
קריאה אחרת: 120 נספרים מיובל לידתו של שת, היובל השלישי, ומגיעים ליובל ה־123.
מחזור זה מסתיים בשנת 6,028 (או סביב 2031 בלוח הגרגוריאני), בדיוק 10 שנים מהתאריך דאז (נובמבר 2021). קריאה זו מתיישבת טוב יותר עם מעקב יובלים, כי היא מדגישה מחזורים ולא שנים בודדות.

तीसरे जुबिली के पहले वर्ष में कैन ने हाबिल को मार डाला, क्योंकि परमेश्वर ने हाबिल की भेंट स्वीकार की और कैन की नहीं।

पाँचवें सप्ताह के चौथे वर्ष में आदम ने फिर अपनी पत्नी को जाना, और उसने पुत्र जन्म दिया, और उसका नाम शेत रखा; क्योंकि उसने कहा, "परमेश्वर ने हाबिल के स्थान पर हमें पृथ्वी पर दूसरी संतान दी है; क्योंकि कैन ने उसे मार डाला।"
जब मनुष्य पृथ्वी पर बढ़ने लगे और उनके पुत्रियाँ उत्पन्न हुईं, तब परमेश्वर के पुत्रों ने देखा कि मनुष्य की पुत्रियाँ सुंदर हैं, और उन्होंने अपनी पसंद की स्त्रियाँ ब्याह लीं। यहोवा ने कहा, “मेरा आत्मा मनुष्य से सदा लड़ता न रहेगा, क्योंकि वह भी माँस है; इसलिये उसकी आयु एक सौ बीस वर्ष की होगी।”

उत्पत्ति 6 में “परमेश्वर के पुत्र” के दो मुख्य अर्थ हैं: पतित दूत, या शेत की भक्त संतान जो कैन की संतान से ब्याही। दोनों पाठ से समर्थित हैं।
उत्पत्ति 6:3 की 120 वर्ष संभवतः 49-वर्षीय जुबिली चक्र हैं।

Adán vivió ciento treinta años, y engendró un hijo a su semejanza, conforme a su imagen, y llamó su nombre Set.

Todos los días de Set fueron novecientos doce años, y murió.

Y en el primer (año) del jubileo tercero, Caín mató a Abel porque (Dios) aceptó el sacrificio de Abel y no aceptó la ofrenda de Caín.

Y en el año cuarto de la semana quinta se alegraron, y Adán conoció otra vez a su mujer, y ella le dio un hijo, y llamó su nombre Set; porque dijo: "Dios nos ha dado otra simiente en la tierra en lugar de Abel; porque Caín lo mató."
Cuando los hombres comenzaron a multiplicarse sobre la faz de la tierra, y les nacieron hijas, los hijos de Dios vieron que las hijas de los hombres eran hermosas, y tomaron para sí mujeres, escogiendo entre todas. Y dijo Jehová: “No contenderá mi espíritu con el hombre para siempre, porque ciertamente él es carne; mas serán sus días ciento veinte años.” Había gigantes en la tierra en aquellos días, y también después.

Hay dos interpretaciones principales de los "hijos de Dios" en Génesis 6: ángeles caídos, o los descendientes piadosos de Set que se casaron con las hijas de Caín. Ambos encajan en el texto y quizá describen dos hechos en paralelo.
Los 120 años de Génesis 6:3 pueden ser jubileos de 49 años, no años solares.

Otra lectura: los 120 se cuentan desde el ciclo de jubileo en que nació Set (el tercero), lo que llega al jubileo 123.
Este ciclo termina en 6,028 (o alrededor de 2031 en el calendario gregoriano), exactamente 10 años desde la fecha de entonces (noviembre de 2021). Esta lectura encaja mejor con el seguimiento de jubileos, porque enfatiza ciclos y no años sueltos.
