Gregorian Abbreviations
I wrote a book called 'DSS Planner' in India which will soon be in the shop. It details how I keep track of things in an analogue way while traveling. Of course I cannot carry a tickler filing system with me on the airplane so I used a seasonal journal utilizing GPC. Like all of our systems both digital and analogue we must be able to convert between GPC and the Gregorian Calendar seemlessly. I field tested this system in India but while there I mainly relied on my cellphone for such conversions.
In GPC we can write dates as a simple three digit tag. For instance today 2024-10-15 the date is just 210 in GPC. Day of Year format doesn't work with the Gregorian Calendar because it is out of sync with the weekly cycle. So the Gregorian calendar offers none of the benefits that GPC does. Still a simple three digit tag must be invented for Gregorian dates for the sake of a cheat sheet in the back of a GPC seasonal planner. It's simple. Each month of the Gregorian Calendar will have a one letter Abbreviation. Numbers will be used instead of letters when the need arises. See chart below
| Civil | Abbreviation |
|---|---|
| January | J |
| Febuary | F |
| March | M |
| April | 4 |
| May | 5 |
| June | 6 |
| July | 7 |
| August | A |
| September | S |
| October | X |

Thus

Speed is efficiency. It is handy that this system should be perfectly intelligible for every language in the world.
