Time’s Ancient Riddle: Decoding the Lunar-Solar Debate Time’s Ancient Riddle: Decoding the Lunar-Solar Debate For thousands of years, scholars and theologians have debated whether the Torah advocates a lunar or solar calendar for observing sacred times. You’d think by now we’d have it figured out, but the discussion remains lively! Today, I dove into this ancient debate, and I was blown away by what I learned. In this post, I’ll break down the strongest arguments for a lunar-solar calendar, offer my rebuttals, and present compelling evidence for a solar calendar, particularly the 364-day Qumran Calendar. Spoiler: many verses cited for a lunar calendar can just as easily support a solar one, but a few stand out. Let’s dive in! Understanding the Debate The lunar-solar calendar, used in traditional Jewish practice, relies on the moon’s cycles (29–30 days) with occasional intercalations to align with the solar year. The ...

Iceland and Qumran: The Forgotten 364-Day Calendars That Mastered Time

Human History The Genius of Forgotten Calendars: Iceland and Qumran’s 364-Day Marvels Picture a calendar so elegantly simple that every year begins on the same day of the week, the seasons stay in sync for centuries, and planning your life feels effortless. Two ancient cultures, separated by continents and centuries, crafted exactly that: the Icelandic perennial calendar and the Qumranite calendar of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Both used a 364-day system, independently discovering a brilliant way to track time. Yet, these ingenious calendars faded into obscurity. Let’s explore their remarkable designs, their uncanny similarities, and why such genius ideas often vanish from history. The Icelandic Perennial Calendar: A Viking Timekeeping Triumph From 930 to 1700 CE, Iceland relied on a 364-day calendar that shaped its society for over seven centuries. Formalized around 955 CE by the Althing, Iceland’s legislative assembly, following a proposal by Thorstein Black, this calendar divi...

200 Watchers, 330 Million Giants: The Math of Myth

200 Watchers, 330 Million Giants: The Math of Myth 200 Watchers, 330 Million Giants: The Math of Myth Posted on October 25, 2025, 04:31 PM EDT I'm finally doing the math on demonology. So according to the Book of Enoch, there are 200 Watchers or fallen angels that had sex with women, and the offspring of those women became giants. This isn't just Jewish tradition. The Sumerians, who are the oldest race and culture in human history, have an entire polytheistic religion based on this. When the giants died, their souls became demons. That's the actual origin of demons. The Book of Enoch goes on to say that man worships demons as gods. I'm just entertaining the idea. Well, how many gods exist? Koti absolutely can and does mean crore in many instances. There are instances in the Torah when one verse can mean two things at once. Why are people so simple that they confine sentences to have only one possible interpre...

The Sloth

Image
Advantages The weekly cycle of the sloth. 🦥 The oldest non-Semitic reference to a Monday comes from the Greeks. This system was only adopted by humans 2,000 years ago. Is it natural? We know beavers stay in their lodges on the Sabbath, and all mammals have 7 vertebrae in their spine except the manatee and the sloth. We feel stress in our necks, reminding us of improper time management and of creation simultaneously. Today I learned that the sloth seems to be on a weekly cycle. About once a week, it will descend from the trees to defecate on the forest floor. Some sources say that its cycle is 5–7 days and others 7–10 days. It averages about 4 times a month, so it’s clearly a weekly cycle. Pigeons and doves lay eggs roughly once a week, which is very interesting considering they are homing birds and this symbolizes ancient Eastern cyclical thinking. Question: Is the weekly cycle a divine or human construct?
